Town of Monroe Operation Clean Sweep

Preparations for Operation Clean Sweep in the Town of Monroe are coming together rapidly reports Charlie Pakula, General Nutrition Center (GNC), Chair of the event.

Plans are to clean up litter in an area from the intersection of Route 17 and 17M in the Village of Harriman to the Bank of New York Building & Wally's Ice Cream Parlor in the Village of Monroe from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 19th, 2008.

The Chamber of Commerce of Orange County has provided support to this project in response to its members in the area. John Wells, Walden Federal Bank event Co-Chair; Sandy Leonard, Monroe Town Supervisor; John M. Karl, III, Mayor of the Village of Monroe; Stephen H. Welle, Mayor of the Village of Harriman; and Roy Montanye Town of Monroe Highway Superintendent, have all taken an active part in making this Clean Sweep a success.

Members of the committee are asking for contributions of rakes, gloves, garbage bags and volunteers. Individuals, companies and organizations that would like to give their support for this event should contact Charlie Pakula at 783-0660.
